My piece, which consists of these 3 photos (can be seen separately or together), reflects my feelings of shame towards the beauty of South Asian culture growing up. Despite the beautiful clothes, art, and culture, I vividly remember the many times I consciously hid my culture from my peers. I felt shame when we had multicultural day at elementary school and people made fun of the food representing India. I felt shame when my mom came to pick me up wearing Indian jewelry and clothes. I felt shame when I was called up in class to be the sole voice of Hinduism in AP World History. These photos hopefully share at least a glimpse into this feeling.

My name is Pranav Senthilvel and I am a rising sophomore studying Computer Science and History.
